Sending the right message to the right person is one of the most crucial parts of a successful SMS strategy. The most essential step to accomplishing this is to Segment your messages. This article walks through how to include and exclude segments from your messages.

Create a new Broadcast

  • Navigate to Broadcasts.
  • Select Create Broadcast.

Choose a Segment

  • Under Segments, select 1 or more segments to send to.

Exclude a Segment

If you’d like to exclude certain contacts from receiving this message:
  • Click Don’t send to (optional) just below your Send to selection.
  • Select 1 or more segments that you’d like to exclude from this message.
If you change your mind and no longer want to exclude contacts, select Remove.

Estimated Recipients

Once you’ve selected which segments to target, you’ll see an Estimated Recipients counter in your Segments section. Instead of showing the exact number of people the Broadcast is sent to, we will provide an Estimated Count (as per industry standards), since the number of people who are eligible to receive a Broadcast can/will change by the time Broadcast is sent, so providing an exact number is not possible. For example, if a subscriber opts out or a segment rule is updated, then the number of recipients will change.
